A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ASSISTANT ACCOUNT MANAGER

As an Assistant Account Manager, you support the Account Manager by accurately and efficiently helping people choose the right health insurance for their families. Whether by old-fashioned paper methods, faxing, or online portals, you process applications to each carrier's requirements. You complete special enrollment period documents. You love making sure that everything is accurate and lines up correctly. While you do spend a lot of time working independently at your desk on administrative/customer service tasks, you also get to interact with people on a regular basis by phone and email. Your excellent communication and customer service skills are essential as you respond to questions from clients such as explaining networks, plan benefits, and how to understand insurance benefits on a daily basis. You use your good judgment to decide when more difficult questions need to be escalated to the Account Manager. You address billing issues, claims and customer service issues, working closely with clients for resolution. You are all about follow through and making sure that everything is resolved in a timely manner. You follow up with clients for clarification. You verify information to run quotes and create proposals using carrier website or quoting software. You enjoy your job and are always professional in all your interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS TO BE AN ASSISTANT ACCOUNT MANAGER

  • Proficiency with office technology and typical administrative tasks
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and general computer skills
  • Customer service skills
